Springfield School District considers notification system
Springfield, MO - May 7, 2008
In just a few months, parents of Springfield students could receive a phone call if school is canceled for an emergency, or even if their child has missed a class. The district is looking at putting a notification system in place by the fall. If everything goes through, parents could be contacted by phone, e-mail, or text message. The funding for the program would come from an existing Safe Schools Healthy Students grant. The system would work not only in emergency situations, but might also help in other ways. Associate Superintendent Dr. Peggy Riggs says, "All three companies that presented to us talked about an immediate increase in attendance which would be very helpful and beneficial for us."
